Belite cements and their activation

چکیده
Belite cements, BCs, containing mainly belite, alite and calcium aluminates, are currently used as low heat cements. These binders produce high amounts of C–S–H gel have very good durability properties which reviewed. Additional advantages include: (i) lower limestone demand, with associated CO2 emissions; (ii) energy demand; (iii) kiln operating temperature, means lowering NOx emissions from fuel burning; (iv) temperature increase at early hydration age. However, early-age strength developments not competitive those Portland Hence, to improve their is a research priority known activation. This enhancement can be attained by three compatible approaches: chemical, physical; admixture activations. The current status for BCs activation reviewed including: cost-effective element substitutions stabilize high-temperature forms; fast cooling, milling mild physical activation; the use seeds After discussion resulting microstructures, outlook exercised.

SEM/EDX characterization of the hydration products of belite cements from class C coal fly ash
This paper presents the microscopic characterization of two types of fly ash belite cements and their hydration products by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) microanalysis and X-ray diffraction analysis. The cements were obtained from ASTM class C coal fly ash by the hydrothermal-calcination route in water (FABC-2-W) and NaOH 1M solution (FABC-2-N). The ...
متن کاملHydraulic and Leaching Behaviour of Belite Cements Produced with Electric Arc Furnace Steel Slag as Raw Material
Three belite-rich cements consisting of a clinker made with 0 (BC), 5 (BC5) and 10 wt. % (BC10) electric arc furnace steel slag (EAFS) as raw material, were studied for their hydraulic and leaching behaviour. Hydration behaviour was studied by FTIR, TG/DTG and SEM analyses. The cements with EAFS resulted in a higher C2S/C3S and C4AF/C3A ratio compared to the reference body. As a result, the rat...
متن کاملBone cements and their potential use in a mandibular endoprosthesis.
Bone cement was first used in the 1950s. Since then many modifications have been made and alternatives developed to the original polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) cement. In view of the use of bone cement in a novel mandibular endoprosthetic system, we performed a review of the current literature on this material. Different cements are described and their potential use in a mandibular endoprostheti...
متن کاملUse of Superplasticizers in Concrete and Their Compatibility with Cements
This investigation formed a prior stage of a research programme which was concerned about performance of various types of concrete under sulphate attack. It was intended to investigate into the use of superplasticizers in concrete, the aspect of compatibility among available cements & superplasticizers and to choose a suitable pair of them for the programme. Three different types of available c...
متن کاملInflammasomes and their activation.
The innate immune system relies on the recognition of pathogens by pattern recognition receptors as a first line of defense and to initiate the adaptive immune response. Substantial progress has been made in defining the role of Nod (nucleotide-binding oligimerization domain)-like receptors and AIM2 (absent in melanoma 2) as pattern recognition receptors that activate inflammasomes in macrophag...
